GUIDANCE NEWS:

ALL potential June graduates must stop by the Student Services Office this week to confirm their name for their diploma.  Also, please return your Senior Survey and Scholarship form if you have not already done so.

 

The Roxboro Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will sponsor a Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) Information Day Saturday, May 18th 2013 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. The event will be held at Shady Hill Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall, 1500 Old Durham Road, Roxboro, NC. The information day is open to high school students and their parents. There will be representatives of many colleges along with a financial aid breakout session and college life Q&A session.

 

National Honor Society will be offering tutoring services every Thursday afternoon. If you need help in any subject, getting organized, or establishing good study habits, come on out this Thursday or any Thursday. NHS tutoring will be in room 701 from 2:45-3:45 every Thursday.

 

Es mala tu clase de espanol? The Spanish Honor Society is here to help! We offer tutoring for all levels of Spanish every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 2:30-3:30 in room 122. Come practice your conversation, go over vocabulary, or get your questions answered by one of our members. Nos vemos!

 

CLUB MEETINGS AND NEWS:

Chorus and Theatre 2,3,4 auditions will be  on May 21st at 3pm in the chorus room.  See Mrs. Summerlin or Ms. Garcia for any questions.

 

All students interested in leadership positions for Habitat for Humanity next year must meet in Ms. Harris's room immediately after school on Monday, May 20th. Please see Ms. Harris if you have any questions.

 

Auditions for next years dance 2 class will be Monday, May 20 from 3-5:30 in the dance room.

 

All seniors—Are you interested in a FREE party with food, a DJ, casino games, prizes and more?  Then you’ll want to sign up for project graduation!  It is a free party for graduating seniors and a JHS guest of their choice, hosted at the Downtown Marriott on Friday, June 7th from 10pm – 3 am.  Registration forms can be picked up and turned in to Mrs. Deisel in guidance.  Due date for registration is next Friday, May 24th.  See Mr. Keenan or Mrs. Detmer in the 500 wing for details by the end of the week.

Freshman Bryant Liles and teacher Mr. Beasley will be hosting a St.

Baldricks event May 21 at 3 o'clock. Please come out to support them in helping fight childhood cancer.

 

The spring chorus show will be on Friday and Saturday, May 17th and 18th at 7:30 PM.  Tickets will be sold online and at the door for $5.00.  Please come out and support the choral program!

 

Auditions for 2013-2014 Jordansound and Falconsong Choirs will be on Tuesday, May 21st at 2:45 PM.  Please come by the chorus room (room 128) to sign up and to pick up an audition packet.

 

Are you interested in traveling during the summer of 2014? A group of students has already been created!!!  Ms Siwek is planning another tour through Europe for June of 2014 and would like to hear from ALL of those who are interested in this exciting trip. Please come by her room, 001 for more information.

 

Besides the April Driver Ed class sign up we are now signing people up for the June and July summer classes

Guitar Club will meet in Ms. Couch’s room (402) on Wednesday! You may drop off your guitar before school!

W-F each week:

Speculative Fiction Club will meet each Friday in Ms. Couch’s room (402). Bring your knowledge of all things fantasy, science fiction, and dystopian!

 

American Sign Language Club meets at 2:40 PM every Tuesdays, students and teachers are welcome!

 

Come out to C3 every Wednesday at 2:45 in room 110 to enjoy snacks and engage in group discussion!

ATHLETIC NEWS:

Girls Tennis interest meeting for Fall 2013 will be Thursday, May 16th at 2:45 in room 021.  If you can not make meeting, please see Coach Cain ASAP

We wanted to say thank you for supporting our athletic teams this year.  We closed out our home season last night.  Your support helped propel us to 7 conference championships (volleyball, men’s basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, women’s soccer, men’s track and women’s track).  A special shout out to Erik Hofheinz, Kim Annas, Phil Davanzo, Jamie Sliwa, Sarah Kanko, Chris Starkey and John Gray who were all recognized as conference coaches of the year.  The best shout out goes to all our players and coaches who through their hard work earned us the 2012-13 Wells Fargo Cup for being the top athletic school in the PAC-6 Conference. Thanks again and we will see you August 19th for our home openers in Women’s Tennis and Men’s Soccer.
