Attention Sophomores and Juniors:
Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is a cost-free, state-funded program for academically talented North Carolina residents who have demonstrated interest in science and mathematics and aspire to a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The program brings rising juniors and seniors together in a residential setting for research and intensive study. The program is currently hosted at four campuses of the university system—Appalachian State University (ASU), East Carolina University (ECU), North Carolina Central University (NCCU), and University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).
Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is competitive and entry is by application only! Applications are to be completed solely online and can be accessed at www.summerventrues.org. Deadline for the online student portion of the application is January 31, 2014.
Are you interested in earning a Bachelors degree in Nursing? The
RIBN (ribbon) program is a 4 year nursing option that will dually enroll students to both Community College and University coursework. The RIBN program makes a bachelor’s degree in nursing very affordable. Stop by the Career Center and register with Mrs. Ayers to attend an information session.
DPS is hosting three upcoming financial aid nights for students and parents. The focus will be on filling out the Free Application for Federal and Student Aid, avoiding too much debt, and finding scholarships and grants. All events will be at 6:30 p.m.

Attention Juniors: Information is now available in student services for the Elon Junior Scholars Program. Selection as a scholar confers a number of awards and opportunities including a $18,000 scholarship. Stop by student services for more information.
School Portraits are available for pick up in the Student Services/Guidance office. Freshman Academy students can pick up their school portraits from their Freshman Academy Homeroom teacher.
CLUB MEETINGS AND NEWS:
JHS Spoken Ink's first slam of the year is this Thursday December 12th at 5:30 in the cafeteria. Come out to support your peers, enjoy performances by guest poets and get inspired. Sign up closes the day of at 5pm.
The Pride of Jordan Step Team will have practice today at 2:45-4:30 in room 108.
The library will be closed for A lunch today for testing.
The book club will meet Thursday, December 12th at 2:45 in the media center. The book for this month is My Thirteenth Winter by Samantha Abeel.
There will be a math club meeting Monday Dec. 9 at 2:45 in room 702. If you are interested in the College of Charleston Math meet, please attend.
The FFA will be having its next chapter meeting on Wednesday, December 18th! We will be doing our annual white elephant gift exchange so bring a gift that is $10 or less to participate
All young men interested in participating and or learning more about he Mr. Jordan Pageant should attend an interest meeting next Thursday in room 148 at 2:45. Young men will be required to participate in 5 Acts: Introductions, Beach wear, Talent, Formal wear, and answer a question.
Attention Jordan Community: Key Club is sponsoring a toy drive for the Durham Rescue Mission. Please bring new, unwrapped toys to Room 205 or 404 from now until December 17th. Help us achieve our goal of 250 toys!
Did you miss those holiday deals on Black Friday? We’ve got you covered. Student Council is selling Secret Santa Grams in the room 402 during all three lunches and before or after school in Room 402. Buy a sweet gift for just 75 cents and send it to a special friend. Sale starts Today until December 16th. Deliveries will be made Friday December 20.
Let’s spread the warmth. Student Government will be hosting a hat, gloves, and scarf drive for local elementary kid. Please drop your donations off to your 3 A teacher. The 3 A class who donates the most items will be treated to a gourmet lunch provided by Mr. Grant. Any questions see Mr. Grant in room 402.
Falcon Fever T-Shirts are now for sale in Mr. Grant’s room, 402, before school, during lunch, or after school. The cost is $10.00 and must be prepaid and preordered. Please see Mr. Grant or any student government representative for any questions. Do not delay sale ends on December 18th.
Senior Class Shirts are now on sale online only, on the Jordan website. Shirts are $15.00. They will be on sale until January 10th, 2013. See Mr. Grant for more detail.
Bryant Liles with the FFA is organizing a second annual St. Baldrick’s for Childhood Cancer event this May. If we reach our donation goal, participating students and faculty will shave their heads in honor of those affected by cancer. All those interested in participating as a shavee please see Mrs. Dagerhardt in Room 004. More information about the event to come!
National Honor Society offers tutoring services to students of any grade level every Thursday in room 701, Mr. Seed’s room, from 2:40 to 3:45. Students should arrive as close to 2:40 as possible.
The National Honor Society will provide peer tutoring on Tuesday and Thursday’s for Science, Math, English and Social Studies. Bring items to work on and we will help!
Come join C3 in room 110 for an open discussion, free food, drinks and of course a good time! We meet every Wednesday from 2:45-3:30.
Sophomore Success extended hours are 2:45 to 5:00pm in Mr. Grant’s room 402. These classes will be offered Tuesday – Thursdays.
